Gov. Rick Snyder says he's planning a trip to Asia in September in an effort to bring business to Michigan.

Snyder told WVGR-FM on Thursday that the trade mission to Asia follows on what he considers the success of a fall 2011 trade trip to China, South Korea and Japan.

Snyder says last year's eight-day trip led to new economic developments in the Ann Arbor area and Saginaw.

The Hyundai-Kia America Technical Center in Superior Township announced in January it plans to add 50 new jobs over the next three years in connection with a $15 million expansion.

The governor says he will take part in an annual meeting of the Midwest U.S.-Japan Association in Minnesota in mid-September, then fly directly to China.

Snyder says details of the trip and who will participate aren't yet determined.
