The property, which is on 2.5 acres of land and is the former site of the Chelsea Screw Co., will be undergoing blight removal at the cost of $321,000 to make the property able to be developed, according to the Standard.

Prospective tenants already are being considered for the mixed-use development, the story said, but construction must be held until after the site is clear of environmental concerns.

According to previous reporting from AnnArbor.com, the site was one of five vacant or underutilized properties that consultants focused on last year while determining a strategic plan for downtown. The other sites included the former auto dealership Palmer Ford, the Clocktower, the Longworth buildings and several downtown parking lots and alleyways.
