Khaled Houamed and Susan Thomas want to bring North African cuisine to Ann Arbor next month when they open a cafe and market, Concentrate Media reports.
The pair plans to open El Harissa Market Cafe in March, taking over the former Mercado Sabor Latino space at 1516 N. Maple Road.
The 2,200-square-foot cafe and market will sell specialty grocery items and prepared foods such as homemade soups and ice cream in the summer. Eventually, they could incorporate catering and delivery into the business.
The market joins the newly opened Juicy Kitchen, which replaced Maple Gardens Chinese restaurant at 1506 N. Maple Road.
