Ann Arbor Area Board of Realtors honors The Betty Brigade & Arbor Brewing owners for environmental efforts

The Ann Arbor Area Board of Realtors Jan. 17 presented its 2013 Environmental Awareness Awards to Ann Arbor firm The Betty Brigade and to Matt and Rene Greff, owners of the Arbor Brewing Co.

Arbor Brewing uses a solar energy system to generate electricity and the majority of the hot water needed for brewery and restaurant operations.

Matt & Renee Greff

The Environmental Awareness Award is presented by the AAABOR to Washtenaw County individuals, organizations or businesses who incorporate "green" practices such as using recycled materials, saving energy, cleaning up environmental problems, developing recycling programs, and promoting restoration and historical preservation with reused materials.

The Greffs were honored for installing a sustainable solar energy system to generate electricity and the majority of the hot water needed for brewery and restaurant operations. They also reduced gas and electricity usage by installing more efficient lighting and fixtures.

The Betty Brigade was honored for efforts to recycle or rehome thousands of items each year.


The Betty Brigade, specializing in personal assistance and concierge services, were honored for their reuse and recycling efforts. They make every effort to donate, recycle or otherwise find a home for the thousands of unwanted items the company comes into
contact with every year as part of their organizing services.
